Super Edge Hydraulic Oil
Hydraulic oil is essential for the efficient operation of hydraulic systems. It acts as a medium for power transfer, lubrication, sealing, and cooling. Understanding the different grades of hydraulic oil and selecting the right one for your system is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. This guide will provide detailed information on hydraulic oil grades, their significance, and how to choose the right one for your application.
Super Edge Hydraulic fluid is power and energy transmission medium which works in between Hydraulic machinery equipment. This is a non-compressible fluid also can act as a coolant, sealant and lubricants within machinery and equipment which can be synthetic or mineral based.
Mineral based hyd oil are derived from crude oil fractions whereas synthetic hydraulic oils are made using chemically produced base fluids. Synthetic oils can be formulated to impart superior physical properties in comparison to mineral oils, such as high temperature performance, biodegradability and oxidation stability.
Uses of Hydraulic Oil (Applications)
Hydraulic systems are widely used in industrial machinery, construction equipment, automotive, aircraft
and marine applications. Every Industrial Machinery must used Hydraulic Oil for its prolong life. The following machinery and equipment mostly use hydraulic oil

The Most vital Properties of Hydraulic Fluid
The Most Important Factor you need to see when you buying Hydraulic Oil for your machinery which is its property and characteristic so that your hydraulic system work well you need to use it in. This is especially true of industrial or commercial hydraulic oils. The following characteristic and properties are important for hydraulic oil .
- Low temperature sensitivity of viscosity
- Thermal and chemical stability
- Low compressibility
- Good lubrication (anti-wear and anti-stick properties, low coefficient of friction)
- Hydrolytic stability (ability to retain properties in the high humidity environment)
- Low pour point (the lowest temperature, at which the oil may flow)
- Water emulsifying ability
- Filterability
- Rust and oxidation protection properties
- Low flash point (the lowest temperature, at which the oil vapors are ignitable)
- Resistance to cavitation
- Low foaming
- Compatibility with sealant materials
Types of Hydraulic Fluid
we can divide Hydraulic fluids by its combination of a base oil and additives (anti-wear additives, detergents, Anti-oxidants, anti-foaming agents, Corrosion inhibitors etc.).
Mineral Hyd Oil
Petroleum based fluid also called mineral fluid which are the most widely used fluids for your hydraulic systems. Petroleum based oils have most of the desirable properties, in addition they offer the best lubricants ability, least corrosion problems and are compatible with most seal materials. Some of the properties of mineral hydraulic fluids are excellent lubricity, higher demulsibility, oxidation resistance, higher viscosity index, protection against rust, good sealing characteristics, easy dissipation of heat and easy cleaning by filtration etc.
Synthetic Hydraulic Oil
Synthetic hydraulic fluids is made with synthetic base oil and high-quality additive package. It prevents system deposits and gumming and offers high corrosion and wear protection, excellent oxidation and aging stability, and four to five times longer in-service life compared to mineral oil based hydraulic oils. It is highly biodegradable and features low toxicity.
Polyol ester based hydraulic fluids are fire resistant and possess very good lubrication properties. They are
environmentally friendly lubricants.
Low-temperature fluid
Hydraulic fluid for ultra-low temperatures features ash less technology for extended life and wear protection. It operates in temperatures as low as –58°F. Its features low toxicity to aquatic life, offers up to 95% less wear than industry standard and limits degradation for longer oil life. Extra-high viscosity index provides consistent, efficient operation and protection from cold startup to normal conditions. Line is currently being redesigned.
Bio-based fluids
It is readily biodegradable and safe for use in ISO 46 grade hydraulic systems. It meets or exceeds most major hydraulic equipment manufacturers’ requirements and performs well in low temperatures.
Synthetic fluid
HLP Synth is made with a saturated synthetic ester base and high-quality additive package. It prevents system deposits and gumming and offers high corrosion and wear protection, excellent oxidation and aging stability, and four to five times longer in-service life compared to mineral oil based hydraulic oils. It is highly biodegradable and features low toxicity.
Anti-wear AW hydraulic Oil
Anti-wear (AW) hydraulic oils are made from a petroleum base fluid and commonly contain the anti-wear additive Zinc . This additive works to protect the hydraulic pump. They come in multiple viscosity grades that have varying applications. For example, AW 46 hydraulic oils can be used to operate the hydraulic systems in off-road equipment such as dump trucks, excavators, and backhoes, while AW 32 hydraulic oils may be more suitable for colder weather applications like in a snow plow’s pump.
ISO Designation of hydraulic oils
at Super Edge we are blending based on International Standardization Organization (ISO) established a viscosity grading (VG) system for industrial hydraulic oils. According to the system hydraulic oils are designated by the letters ISO followed by a number equal to the oil viscosity measured in centistokes at 40°C (104°F): ISO VG 32, ISO VG 46 etc..
What Are Hydraulic Oil Grades?
Hydraulic oil grades refer to the viscosity of the oil, which is a measure of its resistance to flow. The viscosity of hydraulic oil is critical because it affects the efficiency and performance of the hydraulic system. Hydraulic oil grades are usually specified by the International Standards Organization (ISO) or the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
